Until they ran out of money to finish the series...

It was kinda hard to follow at first, but toward the end, I started to put some stuff together, and could predict most of what would happen. And then right when you're waiting for a conclusion, you get a bunch of old animation with words flashing in between. GG Gainax. I don't really find the series thought provoking in the content present as much as the content that it failed to present and is being interpreted to fill in the gaps.
