why would you need +298AP in moomookin?
unless moonkins are the new pallys in TBC.. ...

Blizzard is trying to make moonkin more of a Battlemage. In BC all +feral AP now affects moonkin as well and a AP increase when in moonkin. All because they'll now be able to get mana back on attacks. Lazy fix to moonkins mana problems.

oh.. but would moonkins be viable in TBC? if a moonkin becomes like a battlemage, then wouldnt the AP be compromised with the +spell dmg of the druid's items? i.e, for eg. if you take the feral staff you're missing out on the +spell dmg you get on the caster's staff or vice versa. this way, the moonkin's dps output wouldnt be very high would it?

Who said anyone would actually take AP over +dmg for moonkin? :P
I'm just stating why Blizzard put that there in the tooltip. And who knows, maybe BC will bring about better Druid itemization.

Yeah, all feral druid +AP talents available to get as a oomkin now effect them as well. That plus omen of clarity and the new oomkin effect of +105AP at level 70, and you get a chance to regen mana based on your AP for hit, yeah, basically a battlemage idea. I don't know how viable it will be, but interesting to see if they will change druids so casting doesn't reset swing timer anymore, as that seems to be the largest stumbling block to this idea. Well, that and no -aggro ability other than wasting tons of mana and time to switch out of oomkin, then to cat form to cower, then back to cast, and back to oom.
So yeah, not being able to melee and cast at the same time like pally/shamans, and no -threat ability severly hamper OOMkin abilities.
