Below is Tigole's response:
We've made several adjustments to Ragnaros that are now live on the test server. Hopefully, with those changes getting a second attempt will be a little easier. I think the combination of being able to engage him before he wipes your raid and the extended uptime will create more opportunities for people to learn the encounter.
Also, some basic elements of the encounter were tuned a bit and those changes should also provide guilds with better opportunities for success.
I believe Ragnaros will be killed very soon. We would not intentionally make the encounter overly difficult to prevent people from beating him. All that does is create frustration and resentment. We want the encounter to be fun and to reward players.

Well it seems to me that after the patch we will have to probably make at least 2 or 3 new attempts just to figure out what was changed, and accommodate. But if he ishaving his aggro raidus taken down a notch then that right there will give us a major help in doing at least 2-3 attempts in a night instead of just 1, with or without the extended hour.

why isn't this in general forums?

Because it's raid related ?
Hence I posted it in our "raid" forums =p

The surgers by Ragnaros not respawning will also help a lot.

"Tuning" sounds like he's a bit easier now, or at least that's what I get as the general impression.

So in other words, Blizzard's ready for him to die now and get turned into farm status. Maybe Blackwing Lair is in the next patch then? One can only hope ^^

I read a post by Bliz the other day.
Blackwing is done and in internal testing.
They are waiting on the itemization guys atm according to Bliz.

this is what i have heard too, must get a leatherworker ony's head tonight! hehe jk
yeah but i think they have seen the frustration of many players being vent onto the servers and GMs, because Rag atm takes a lvl on commitment that only a few are willing to do. All i hope they do is make his aggro range for extra attempts far shorter so we dont have to pin the wall and hope to not aggro him.

We need to get ready to kill him as soon as it patches. They "tuned" Onyxia and now any reasonably sized guild is holding their own against her.

i like how blizzard denies the fact that they didn't want people to kill ragnaros this patch. i mean, at least be honest about stuff, when things are this obvious.

definitely not next patch, it's not on the test realm.

Well, they clearly don't want anyone to "beat" the game before the next patch. But if you were in their position would you admit to making encounters impossible? Of course not, just like they posted, it would only frustrate and alienate the customer base.

they are already alienating user base regardless lol, but clearly making it next to impossible, and not admitting to it is bad i think. maybe i'm just too honest.

welcome the business of making money, remember we are the top tier of players the hardcore ones that always are the first to do stuff. Blizz has a larger portion to plz teh more casual customer base that makes up 50% or more of thier customers.

I think this is a silly conspiracy theory and nothing more. Yes, Ragnaros is hard, but everyone said the same about Onyxia for a month before she was killed, and that was with only bug fixes that made the encounter harder. In beta, everyone said BRD was impossible when it first came out. A week later, everyone had all the BRD gear they wanted. The same was said about Stratholme when it first came out. Raid groups were wiping on the first pull, yet raids constantly run stratholme now.
The thing is that when Blizzard tests these encounters, they know exactly how to beat it, which makes it far easier than trying to learn how. Right now, because of the limitations on attempting Ragnaros, no one is coming close to figuring out the proper strategy. Look at our fights with Majordomo. We had one strategy in mind that we had developed based on what other guilds had said, but couldn't get it to work. We decided to make an adjustment to that strategy after failing about 10 times and now we've beaten him 4 or 5 times. And this was knowing all of his abilities beforehand. As Tigole said, Blizzard does want to see the players beat Ragnaros, but if they feel that made it too hard to learn and master the encounter, they'll scale it back.

See, we are among a handful of people out of the customer base who have even reached him, and an even smaller group who have encountered him several times.
B/c few have actually dealt with him, Blizzard can easily say that he's not impossible and people are very close to defeating him. When was the last time 65% was considered very close? But since only a handful of dedicated people have even had the encounter they are risking alienating a very small percentage of their consumer base. And they know we will be the last to quit anyways.
I think one of the real problems is that the Community Managers get stuck trying to explain choices and changes that they weren't directly responsible for. So they are more likely to go the crowd control route and say he's always been possible and they are just adjusting, rather than saying they are ready for him to die.

they did say they were making rag much easier, to what extent i guess we will find out quite soon :D
the concept of why rag is near impossible is simple. we are the top 5% of gamers in this game in terms of advancement in content. Blizzard is trying to make money and they are designing the game to pace with the largest and most profitable segment of their customer base: the more casual. Why do you think the changes came to Stratholme, Scholomance, etc after we had moved onto MC? Because the larger more casual base is hitting those areas as we speak and they are not willing to put forth the effort we did for our sets. I know this because 2 guys down the hall are very casual gamers and think we are suicidal for doing instance runs as much as we did
