I found this game and it looks AMAZING!! Creation and customization is key and it looks like the developers are putting in a SHIT TON of stuff to do! Definitely worth your time to check out. Its for the PS3 and just FYI, everything you see in the screenshots like how the little "Sack Boy's" are dressed up like or the screenshot of the levels can all be designed by people like YOU =)

LittleBigPlanet is planning for lip-synching voice chat
Just when you thought you knew everything you could about Media Molecule's upcoming world-creator game LittleBigPlanet, we find something else that blows our minds and makes us anticipate the title even more. In the latest Edge magazine, it's been revealed that in addition to the emotions and such your sackboy (and sackgirl) can perform, there are plans to lip-synch voice chat. That is to say, the characters will move their mouths in roughly the same way you do (even if not, it's still cool). Down the line, expect stuff like voice filters, too. We think that's a pretty stellar move.

September Launch Confirmed For LittleBigPlanet
Sick of the rumours and conjecture flying about the place over LittleBigPlanet's release date, Sony have decided to confirm that Media Molecule's ambitious user-generated platformer will be launching in September. Which is aaaaages away! Then again, as my momma always (never really) says, a late release date's better than no release date at all. Especially since it gives them another nine months of spitting and polishing.

I can't wait to play it, but it's success really depends on the type of community it builds up for all the custom levels that you can download. Everyone covering it likes to bring up YouTube all the time, and we all know the type of talent one comes to expect on YouTube.

Honestly, I have little to no interest in getting a PS3 currently, however I do really want to play this game. It is the one game thus far that I am envious that I cannot play since I only own a Wii and 360. Well, here's to hoping it either gets ported or something other than it really gets me interested in owning the console.

New LBP info!

Character Customization
• There is a Tron suit you can wear in the game, along with a killzone helmet and mask.
• Not only that, but there are about 25 different materials and designs that you can choose to have your sackboy made out of, including 3 types of camo.
• There are held items that you can choose from, such as a wooden sword and a magic wand (a stick with a star on the top). You can’t use them as weapons, but when you slap while holding an item you hit them with said item.

Level Editor
• For those of you that don’t know, you can switch back and forth between flying and running around by pressing *down* on the d-pad.
• When everyone has a menu open, the menus auto-adjust to the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right corners to keep the screen clear.
• LBP comes with a nice 10 premade vehicles or so(I drove a lowrider!), but as with everything else you can edit them as you like.
• Logs burn. You can make a log, or anything out of wood, really, and set it on fire. We made a floor full of burning logs and then we drove a monster truck over them.
• There are “triggers” that you can place to have events happen right when you want them to. For example, you can make it so halfway through swinging on a rope across a gap, the rope snaps and you fall down to another area.
• Anything you can think of, you can make. Just be careful when making a “Sonic” level or a “Mario” level, because that won’t fly on the servers. Name it something generic that won’t warrant deletion.
• If you want to make carpet, you can. All you have to do is take a picture of some carpet, apply the sticker to something thin and soft(sponge, for example), and save the item.
• If you made a kickass vehicle, you can make that vehicle collectible through your level. For example, you could reward players who made it past a particularly difficult portion of your level with a buggy you made, which they could use at any time throughout making their levels. This applies to items, such as carpet, as well.
• The size of your crater on the moon corresponds directly with the amount of items you can place on a level. This way you can have a minigame taking up a small crater, while a full, hour long level would take up one of the largest craters.

The Construction Yard
• This is the level I got a chance to play three times.
• Eric (the producer) was really stressing the term “Coopetition”, which is cooperating so you can compete for the collectible items and points. For example, there was a lever that would slide a girder across a gap. It requires two people(at least) to complete. One would move the girder across using a lever, the other would grab the chunk of sponge at the other side, which the first player would now bring back with the same lever. That sponge was required to reach a certain height, so you could collect more goodies. In my case, I stood on the sponge with a friend while another guy dragged it across, and right before we got there I slapped my friend off so I could have the stuff to myself. That, essentially, is coopetition.
• The developers love to hide goodies that you have to find later. I didn’t notice all the stuff I could eventually collect until the third playthrough. If you’ve ever played Portal, and you know that usually there is more than one way to beat a level, the same applies here. The more difficult task you accomplish, the more collectibles they reward you with.
• At any point, you can bring up a sticker which is basically a live image recorded from your PS Eye. When you stick the image on a surface, it takes a picture at that moment, so you can tack yourself onto the walls in a level(or whatever else you feel like doing).

Emoting
• Emoting is awesome. Using the d-pad, you can select three different degrees of sadness, anger, happiness, and fear. For example, you press up to smile, press it again to smile big, and press it again to be ecstatic with your tongue hanging out.
• If you hold R2, the right stick becomes a controller for your right hand. The same goes for L2, the left stick, and the left hand.
• The sixaxis controls which direction your head is facing, and it was surprisingly intuitive.
• If you click and hold L3, the sixaxis controls your hips instead of your head.
• Using a combination of these, I made my guy do a pretty kickass hula dance. I forced him to do it, though, so he was pretty scared at the time.

PS3 is slowly, but surely now attracting new attention from everyone. Just like all the people said 2 years ago, how it would pull away. That is just what it is doing now. Ive had my PS3 since release day, the dreaded 17th in 06, hehe and Ive loved every bit of it. Pretty much, PS3 = Completely patchable console which means there are no boundries, lol. Cant wait for LBP, oh and should i even mention how much of my life is going to be in shambles once that one game comes out....oh yeah....whats it called? 2 words

08/01/2008, 12:46 PM
Before you make any more post on this forum, you need to realize something, you're coming off as a bit of a PS3 fanboy. Don't get too excited. The PS3 has a long way to go before they're even comparable to the 360 and it will be even more time before they can legitimately compete with them. While I find things I like in both consoles, Sony is playing catchup. To deny such is like trying to tell me America makes great cars, you just don't get it.

I'm primarily a PC Gamer, but I have both consoles, and honestly, PS3 isn't anything to brag about. I have what I would consider 20-30 really GOOD games for 360. PS3? I have maybe 5. My experience with Xbox Live? Fantastic. (fast, stats save, always on, mics) PSN? HORRIBLE. (downages, losing stats, lag, hardly anyone with mics)

When it comes to features, Microsoft shit all over Sony at E3. When it comes to games? I think PS3 will have a stronger year this year over the previous, but again, its playing catchup.

For me, it's the combination of what looks to be a well polished old school platformer with a new twist (teamwork/multiplayer) and the huge community creation aspect. As past mods to games have shown us, the player community can create some amazing shit. And with an incentive of getting a job for these guys if your level is hugely popular, really talented people are going to be giving this a go.

LittleBigPlanet Delayed

To: Sony Computer Entertainment & Media Molecule

While playing your latest game, "LittleBigPlanet" in the first level of the third world in the game (titled "Swinging Safari":smileywink:, I have noticed something strange in the lyrics of the music track of the level. When I listened carefully, I was surprised to hear some very familiar Arabic words from the Quran. You can listen to part of the track here:

mt14.quickshareit.com/share/p...lip22503c0.wav

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

I asked many of my friends online and offline and they heard the exact same thing that I heard easily when I played that part of the track. Certain Arabic hardcore gaming forums are already discussing this, so we decided to take action by emailing you before this spreads to mainstream attention.

We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.

We would also like to mention that this isn't the first time something like this happened in videogames. Nintendo's 1998 hit "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" contained a musical track with islamic phrases, but it was removed in later shipments of the game after Nintendo was contacted by Muslim organizations. Last year, Capcom's "Zack & Wiki" and Activision's "Call of Duty 4" also contained objectionable material offensive to Muslims that was spotted before the release of the final games, and both companies thankfully removed the content.

We hope you act immediately to avoid any confusion and unnecessary controversy, and we thank you for making such an amazing game.

Regards,
yasser

I knew LittleBigPlanet was versatile, but I didn't realize it was this versatile. Japanese PSN member RRR30000 has managed to recreate classic shoot-em up gameplay within the game, using a spaceship sticker and massive amounts of free time. It's truly an amazing accomplishment, recreating the entire first level from Gradius, complete with a boss fight at the end should you make it that far. The level name is Libidius.jp, and it's available for play as we speak. Go rate the hell out of this guy, he really deserves it.
