First i would like to note this is not a place where i intend in depth discussions of games, this is simply a place for tips.

So the reason im posting this is well we don't have anything that kinda covers this. Second of all and more importantly as fun as WoW is i kinda need something else to play to get some sort of break.

Anyway to the point im kinda lost at the moment at which games to find and bother getting. At the moment i could go for pretty much any genre so any recommendations?

Oh and i don't have a really high end pc at the moment, so no Crysis and stuff like that.

Sins of a Solar Empire is alright for a Civ-like RTS ableit a little slow, games last about 3-5 hours on large maps, fun when you just want to build up an empire and then take your massive fleet around squashing the enemies.

Warcraft 3 Dota is fun if you are into team-based RPS (Role Playing Strategy) with the Aeon of Strife formula, the games last about an hour.

Audiosurf for a quickie.

Those are the ones on PC I am currently enjoying, with an emphasis on DotA. Katamari and CoD4 are taking up the most time on my 360.

RTS's are fun and that is where I have decided to devote my time into. I used to play and shifted out of it. Yet, there is always time to go back into them. Right now I play Starcraft quite a lot, and as fun as it is, it is also quite convenient. You never need to worry about a time constraint (such as a raid), and it is a game that you can play on your own terms. Also, it is also intriguing for your mind, and it is the first game that I would recommend.

If you are looking for a FPS, who can go wrong with Counter-Strike? I always enjoy letting off some steam with this game as well. It may be old, but the game is still very fun to play (especially with friends). The only problem that it holds is the insane amount of hackers.

As you can tell, I am quite focused on older games. I enjoy playing them because they are just so "legendary." I do not really know much about newer games or newer MMO's, but these are my suggestions for your new experiences.

Sadly i've missplaced my Warcraft 3 disc :( and yeah i still give CS a go now and then. Sins of Solar empire sounds kinda nice will check it out.

Miss playing WC3 with music blasting loudly, and kicking ass with my Paladin and Mountain King Combo.

and if you get bored of CS there is always Day of Defeat

my third suggestion? Spider Solataire....i can play for hours and this game being on my laptop is prolly the reason i am not doing so great in developmental psychology....

The Orange Box comes with TF2 and Portal, as well as HL2, HL2: Episode I, and HL2: Episode II. If you have any of those already I think you get a 'giftable' copy for a friend.

But yea, TF2 and Portal are ftw.

If you plan on playing both just buy the Box. You can get both on Steam for $50 or buy the Box and get all the other stuff too. I made that mistake >.<

I have to agree here Orange Box is load with fun, Portal just ownz and theres some good downloadable maps out there for it too. As for TF2 its simply is the win, lots of diversity with all the different classes, of course it doesnt come with a whole lot of maps. Granted the maps that come with it are fucking awesome but you do end up getting tired of em and when that time comes you can just find yourself a good custom maps server (theres 500+ custom maps out there). I personally play on KYCW (http://kycw.hlstatsx.com)
