Am I the only one that just doesnt see a ton of point to having more spell haste once you can do two complete mind flays in between each mind blast? Obviously there's benefit to it in that it helps smooth out rotations, lag, human error, etc. But the "ideal" gear setups are coming out with like...300 spell haste? Even Intricacy's personal list which is light on haste (http://www.shadowpriest.com/viewtopic.php?t=10076) has 244. With drumspam that's well over 300 again. I dont see the point to that or any of this bullshit math that says 1haste = 1 damage.

It still lowers the GCD. With heroism you'll be hitting the max so the extra will be wasted then. I'm still trying to decide whether I like lots of haste or not.

With 7.5s CD MB and 3.0s MF (so 1 point in IMB):
MB -> MF -> MF -> MB
CD on MB at end of cast:
0.0 -> 3.0 -> 6.0
(Assuming 0 haste)
You have 1.5s left. WHAT DO YOU DO? If SWD is ready you can hit that, or if you need to recast SWP or VT or even VE. That's a lot of options.
The problem is if you don't need to do any of that. That is the biggest non-casting spot in my rotation, unless I am good enough on mana that I can just throw a 1 tick MF up.
I'm not too great at calculating haste and it's benefit, but I can't see any REAL problems, and even with more haste, IMB can fit better and better.
To me, a LOT of haste is great. Heroism can screw up my timing but its a ton of fun when it's up.

why the fuck would you put only 1 point in improved mind blast? Grats on nerfing your highest dps spell.
It was late when I posted but I'll elaborate now:
All haste does is give you more mindflay time. Unfortunately I dont see too much benefit in that because mind flay is our worst scaling spell. On the whole, spell damage is just better.
In reality there's no way around haste and it is nice to have in many situations, so I'm not really complaining about gear, just about the overall crap priest scaling.

I think if shadow priests scaled too much faster, you'd run into problems.
The first that comes to mind is balance. Shadow priests aren't meant to be a raw DPS class, or even a high DPS class for that matter. Our main purpose is utility. If our DPS flies up, suddenly there's no more need for a number of other DPS classes because everything else equal, we'll win the synergy contest every time.
I know that doesn't directly address the haste topic, just responding to the scaling issue that was brought up.

Hurr my point was (though I sucked at saying it) was that with more haste you can still have that kind of rotation while putting more and more points into IMB.
