thanks for any opinions.

Both!!
But seriously, I would say you would be happy with either one. Since I do have both and like them, I can't really pick between them.

xbox has a larger community and way more games.
Only reason (to me) for buying a PS3 are Metal Gear Solid and Final
Fantasy since Resident Evil is coming out for both.
I believe hardware's better on PS3,but i might be wrong.

its a matter of software (games in this case) versus hardware (where ps3 is better)
granted ps3 has started rolling out solid titles now, 360 still have better games and better online community
metal gear solid and final fantasy are or will be good games but their replay value isn't high enough to warrant a need for the system unlike say halo for the original xbox, good multiplayer games usually decide the system for me, so I own a 360 over a ps3.

I love my 360. The only real disadvantages are hardware issues (which the newer models don't have as many of) and lack of blu-ray support, for now. I'd def say go with the 360 unless you can't live w/o final fantasy, gran turismo, or mgs as they're the only good sony exclusives.

I have both, and if i had to give one of them up it would probably be the 360. I just think the PS3 will be better in the long run, even though it has a lot to do to match XBOX LIVE.

GoW3 better have some innovative things, GoW2 was such a letdown for me.
On the other hand, Gears of War 2 is coming out for X360 so pick your GoWs carefully!
And surprisingly my 360 hasn't RROD yet, I am half expecting it to 30 mins into GTA4 upon which I might have to shit in (no not on it, IN it) the case before I mail it back to Microsoft...

I had my original 360 RROD. I am considering breaking the one I have now (so that I can get a new one with HDMI) but I don't want to risk getting a new RROD one. My extended 3 year warranty runs out in a few months, so I gotta decide.

haha, haven't been that "lucky" yet.Guy from the job had his xbox break 6 times already. He bought the Halo3 Bundle.

Got Halo bundle as well, just 'cause they were out of elite consoles at the time i weas buying it. Wanted to exchange it for elite one when they get it in stock, but never did. My 360 havent broke once and i had it for half a year now. Not im afraid to exchange it, 'cause it may brake.
I would say 360 but wouldnt mind having PS3. So its really up to what you feel whats best for you.

I guess I've been one of the lucky ones too. Been almost a year now since I bought it and haven't had the RROD. Obviously my opinion is biased because I own a 360, but if you are a fan of multiplayer I'd go with the 360. The online community is so much stronger on the 360 than the PS3. Until developers start utilizing the PS3's capabilities I'd say the only thing it has going for it at this point is Blu-Ray.

I've had my Xbox for at least 2 years now and it hasn't broke yet even though I've dropped it a few times. I wouldn't avoid buying an Xbox because of a fear that it will red ring or something, some break, some don't, and I know people who have had their PS3's break, may not be as frequent, but it happens. It really depends on what type of games you want, and how important multiplayer is to you. Personally I would rather have an Xbox because there are more Xbox exclusive games I'm interested in (Gears, Halo, Mass Effect, etc.), whereas im really only interesting in God of War 3 for the PS3. Xbox does have a stronger online system, and seems to have more exclusive DLC (might be wrong). But PS3 has blue ray. Again, I lean towards the Xbox, but it really depends on the games you like, and what you want out of a game system.

cool thanks for the feedback.
main game im going to play on the consol is GTA4 and CoD 4 probably, are the game play and graphics generally the same, or is the PS3 better ?
i heard the PS3 is better quality which is why im swaying towards it.

PS3 is capable of 1080p and has blu ray technology in it. However the new X360 elites will have blu ray in them soon.. just not at the moment. So if you want a better technological product go for the PS3. But if you are gonna play online a lot and be social then you will wanna get the X360. Or you could be a real winner and get both.

360 can do 1080p too :P
but game wise that doesn't matter. except for something like PixelJunk Monsters, no games have been made to work in true 1080p yet.

GT5 Prologue does
Not full. Vertical lines it has 1080, but horizontal is only at 1280 instead of 1900. It runs at 60fps though apparently, which is mighty impressive I think.
I'd put money on SquareEnix's White Engine to get full 1080p first.

White Engine is the thing behind the upcoming FF games. They are also using it for an upcoming MMO as well.

Question about the 360 (I know its probably necroing this thread, but whatever). Is there a place to plug in an original xbox controller? The genious who invented the xbox 360 controller didn't throw a black/white button in and I need those 2 buttons for some of my original xbox games. I can't find a place to plug my other xbox controllers in. Maybe i'm just dumb, but where is the thing where you plug the original xbox controllers in the 360?

I have an Xbox360. I like it. I think they're both good systems. A few of Xbox's exclusives already came out with a few more on the way and PS3 is still waiting on theirs MGS, FF, Gran Turismo, etc. PS3 is better hardware wise, but from the games I've seen with the exception of Devil May Cry, no game in particular has indicated that PS3 is vastly superior to Xbox360. Visually they're pretty much on par with one another. The big difference lies in Xbox360's online environment, you must pay for it but it's vastly superior to anything PS3 offers. PS3 does have Bluray built in which is pretty sweet, but unless you're a big movie buff. I'd probably wait till Bluray prices die down before basing a purchase on that alone.

you can't.
Also, don't hold me to this, but I think you can use the left and right bumpers (the front buttons on the back) as white and black.
I don't think Microsoft is stupid enough to just forget about that when making a controller.

Worked perfectly, tyvm. I think the left bumper is black button and the right is white or some shit.

Silver comes with the Xbox360 Standard. It allows you to download content online and buy crap with microsoft points. It also allows you to contact your friends through Xbox live with some restrictions I believe.
The big difference is that you cannot play games online and you do not have access to all DLC when it first comes out, gold members get like a 1-2 week priority over non gold members. Aside from access that is the main difference.

Like everyone is saying, they are both amazing consoles, but I bought myself an Xbox 360.
The main 2 reasons I bought it was because it was cheap and affordable, and the bundle I found had 4 good games in it. One of those games was Halo 3 lol
But as PS3 is now starting to open up, much better games r being released that are only on ps3, such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Rachett and Clank etc.
But if you are buying a console in hope of good online play, gfo for the Xbox 360, the online play is practically flawless compared to the inabilities that Sony had to induce during its creative sessions with the PS3, as they are not supported by Microsoft.
So long story short, If you have enough money to buy a PS3, do so,
but I bought an Xbox 360, and I still havent regreatted it.
Although I'm now thinking of buying a PS3, so gotta start saving up!

PS3
- Heavenly Sword
- MGS4
- Final Fantasy 13 & Versus 13
- LittleBigPlanet
- Folklore
& if you buy the 80g PS3 you can play ps2 games, Persona 4 is coming out in december, its a very good and different rpg
The main reason I don't get a Xbox is because it breaks down and I know a lot of people who have had theirs break down

Gears of War 2 is exclusively Xbox360.
Xbox360 it must be therefore.
